Rainbow Strings

August 31, 2012

This one makes my heart sing. =)

August 30, 2012

My words are few these days. Nothing is wrong, just quiet. Sometimes I need to be inside a safe cocoon. =)

I finished this one up yesterday. The thread I used for the words look too chunky. I don't hate it, so I am going to leave well enough alone and not redo the whole thing. I reserve the right to change my mind on that, though...

The big picture.

Lets Go Fly a Kite! This one I really love!

Love this monkey playing peek-a-boo.

Have a safe Labor Day weekend!

Still stitching....

Pretty threads in a jar....

First block of Circles of Life project. Pattern can be found in Jenny of Elefantz's shop.

I'm almost done adding the blanket stitch to this project.

Monday means laundry and I had better get back to it! =)

Have a great day, everyone...I may not be commenting, but I am reading your blogs. =)

Kites flimsy

August 22, 2012

Not the greatest picture, but you get the idea. Now to get it quilted! =D

Thank you all for the sweet comments yesterday...

August 21, 2012

Free paper piece pattern for the kite can be found at Sewhooked.
Prairie points
I don't think I will have it done by tonight's baby shower, but at least I have a good start, right? =)

Back to work!

I love...

August 19, 2012

I love my Brooklyn girl...

Mom and dad were working, so we had Brooklyn to ourselves Saturday morning for several hours to play. We found this beautiful gown for her at a thrift store for $1.50!

I love spending time with Russ...

Friday Russ and I took a tour of the Polaris factory where they make Victory motorcycles. We won our NYC trip through Polaris.

We met the Victory spokesman, Gunny i.e.: R. Lee Ermey. I know him as the voice of Sarge in Toy Story, but he has done other movies.

I love pretty fabric...

We also visited three quilt shops on this trip. All three were fabulous!! I found some great deals on fabrics for my stash, all on clearance. Yea!
All three of these shops are worth the effort to go visit if you are in the area:

The Calico Hutch - Hayward, MN
Quilt n Stitches - Spirit Lake, Iowa

I love thrift stores and vintage treasures....

And a couple of fun finds at the same thrift store where we found Brooklyn's dress. The GE travel iron  was $1! The phone, which I have been looking for, for a long time, was $3. I was so excited! Usually I only see the beige colored ones.

I love that it has the original cord. I kinda miss dialing a phone to call someone.

I love being this mans wife....

Last, but not least...Today Russ and I are celebrating our 12th anniversary. =) I am a very blessed woman to be married to such a kind and generous man.

I am going to try to get caught up with blog reading and the Bowls blog hop. TRY is the key word....

Have a great Sunday!

August 16, 2012

I felt like I won the lottery yesterday! Thank you, Madame Samm for awarding my bowls project with an honorable mention. I'm still pinching myself. And I am overwhelmed with the kind comments I received. I treasure each and every one of them. =)

Speaking of winning...

Have you ever wondered if people really win sweepstake contests? You know, the ones that are giving away cash, cars or trips?

I know I have...

And now I know, people really do win!

How do I know?

Because my Rusty entered one...

And he WON!

At the end of September, we will be traveling to New York City!

This small town girl is a bit overwhelmed at the thought. It will be a once in a lifetime experience, that's for sure!

If you have been to NYC, please share your experiences and share what places to go and see. There is so much, I don't even know where to start and our stay is short at only a couple of days. Central Park is at the top of the list as of now. I suggested Tiffany's, but my honey reminded me that I would much rather have fabric. He would be correct. ;-)

Have a great weekend, everyone. Ours is starting early. We are heading to see our granddaughter Brooklyn again this weekend. =) Gotta do the grandma thing and share a picture. It's a law or something like that.

Will talk again soon!!

It's My Turn! Bowls With Borders Blog Hop

August 15, 2012

Have you been checking out the great Bowls With Borders projects? Aren't they great?! I am humbled to be a part of a group with such talent and creativity.

Without further adieu, here is my contribution for the Bowls With Borders Blog Hop....

When the blog hop was first announced, I knew exactly what I wanted to make. This vintage kitchen cabinet had just found its way into our home and it needed a little dressing up.

Apparently my wall needed some dressing up, too. See the little dirt smudge? Ooops. =D

*Ahem* Moving on...

The flowers. Aren't they darling? I love them! You can find the how-to on Marie-Madeline Studio. They are quick and easy and added just the right touch for my bowls. =)

Make sure you visit the rest of today's Bowls With Borders contributors. =D

A Quilting Sheep...ME!

A big thanks to the amazing Madame Samm, for all of her hard work to make these blog hops happen.

And a super big thank you to my new friend, Carol, for being the perfect and gracious hostess for the blog hop.

If you are interested in making your own bowls, you can buy the pattern from Regina.

Until next time...Happy Bowl Hopping!

My stitching update and a Betsy's stitch a long

August 13, 2012

I am pleased with how this is turning out. I was struggling with the french knots, so I bought beads to use instead. In the center of the flowers I used amethyst and mother-of-pearl beads. Left overs from my jewelry making days. I ended up deciding to make this a wall hanging and the plan is to have more hand quilting on it than machine quilting. We'll see if I stick to that plan. =) The one thing I would do differently would be to use two strands of embroidery floss for the words instead of the #5 pearl thread.  The words were too small for such a thick thread. I don't hate it, so I left it as it is and am making the mental note for next time. =)

Next up, check out this darling quilt.

Seriously, is it not the sweetest? The pattern is called Betsy's Closet by Brenda Riddle

Jenny and Kathy are hosting a stitch along to make this darling stitchery quilt and anyone can join in on the fun! All the information for the stitch a long can be found here or here. Also, Brenda has some kits made up that you can buy with all that you will need and because I want mine to look just like the picture, I bought one. I cannot wait for it to get here so I can start!

Be sure to come back on Wednesday when I will be sharing my Bowls With Borders project. =)

Sweet and Sad

A beautiful wedding with the clearest gospel message preached. I will never tire of hearing about what Jesus has done for me.

Matt and Olivia

Saying good-bye in a few hours to another young couple that holds a special place in my heart....

Elijah and Megan
Remember this great quilt picture?

To both couples:

Put on then, as God's chosen ones, holy and beloved, compassionate hearts, kindness, humility, meekness, and patience, bearing with one another and, if one has a complaint against another, forgiving each other; as the Lord has forgiven you, so you also must forgive. And above all these put on love, which binds everything together in perfect harmony. And let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, to which indeed you were called in one body. And be thankful. Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly, teaching and admonishing one another in all wisdom, singing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, with thankfulness in your hearts to God. And whatever you do, in word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.
(Colossians 3:12-17 ESV)

Baby Merry-Go-Round

August 10, 2012

Binding is on and is ready to give to Pam, the gal who gave me the pattern and the ruler to make the quilts. =) She is a dear sister in the Lord and an encouragement to me...

Monday the Bowls with Borders blog hop begins. I am scheduled for the 15th. I am nervous and excited to show you what I came up with. =)

Still stitching

August 7, 2012

I altered this free pattern to make it my own. =)

A Stitching Sheep

August 6, 2012

The stitching is done.

I used Sticky Fabri-Solvy to get my design on my fabric with my computer printer. Can't get any easier than that. =) After you are done, you simply put it in some water and swish and like magic, it dissolves away.

The Sticky Fabri-Solvy is mostly gone and now my stitching is drying.

Eventually this will be a quilt block wall hanging for my sewing room door.

I want to do more! My husband much prefers I stitch in the car than play on my phone. =)
