Gardening

6.04.2013

Once upon a time, I had a beautiful backyard garden....Until life happened.

This was the year to redo the whole thing. What a huge job, but so worth it!

We added landscape fabric this time around.

Plants got dug up and moved to other garden areas of our front and side yard to clear the space for the landscaping fabric.

We ended up using 85 bags of mulch.

Our little helper. =) His parents were dismantling the swing set on the other side of the yard to take to their house.

The finished views...

Next spring, I will separate this clump of flowers and spread them out in the garden. They are so big now, I hate to disturb them....

The back garden has been such a mess for the last three years. I am so glad to have it under control and looking pretty again.

  1. We have out down 55 bags just around our garage. Have 15 more to distribute and about 70 more to buy. It will last about 2 years and then do it over again. Looks really good. Hard work pays off. Chris

  2. Amy, it looks good. We have had to do the same thing this year and that's where I've been stead of blogland! Haha. Remember our basement repair last year? All of my beds were destroyed and so this year we've been redoing everything.

  8. Wow! And again: Wow! So beautiful and so much work. When you rest up I'm flying you out to do my yard. Great pictures. Green and brown - maybe the colors of a new quilt? I know you're happy to get your gardens back and they will be the "balm of Gilead" to your soul this summer. Enjoy!

  9. Just lovely! What a calming place your yard will be during these nice months of warm weather. We've been moving plants around as well and it is a lot of work! But it is worth it and your yard is proof of that. It was nice to see all the beauty you created with God's help! You plant the seeds but he makes them grow. Isn't that a popular saying? It is in my home, at least!

  11. Very pretty yard! There is something peaceful and relaxing about a yard coming together, isn't there? The harder the labor, the sweeter the fruit!
